Wales & West Utilities receives RoSPA recognition for consistent dedication to the highest health and safety standards

Monday 20th October 2025
Wales & West Utilities has received its twelfth Gold Award from Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) - the ultimate symbol of achievement in health and safety.

The Gold Award is reserved for those companies which have achieved the RoSPA Gold standard for five or more consecutive years, and the gas emergency and pipeline service has now surpassed that milestone with twelve years of consistent excellence.

The RoSPA Awards celebrate organisations that demonstrate unwavering dedication to protecting lives and promoting a culture of safety across their operations.

Wales & West Utilities looks after the pipes that keep the gas flowing to heat the homes and power businesses of 7.5m people across Wales and the south west of England. They operate the gas emergency service, connect new homes and businesses, and upgrade the gas network so it’s safe today and ready to transport green gases like hydrogen and biomethane.

Rob Long, Chief Operating Officer at Wales & West Utilities, said:

"Achieving the RoSPA Gold Award for the twelfth year running is a remarkable milestone, highlighting the dedication and professionalism of our employees and partners in supporting a safe work environment.

"Health and safety are central to our organisation. Whether it's responding to gas emergencies, protecting the most vulnerable, or educating young people about the dangers of carbon monoxide, safeguarding our teams and the communities we serve remains our top priority.

"We take great pride in our ongoing efforts to ensure people across Wales and the south west of England stay safe and warm. We're committed to delivering energy that is not only safe and reliable, but also focused on building a greener, more sustainable future.”

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards competition is the largest occupational health and safety awards programme in the UK. The awards are one of the most prestigious and recognised schemes in the world, with almost 2,000 entries every year, nearly 50 countries and a reach of over 7 million employees.
